Onboarding · from offer to day 90

New starters who feel expected, not processed

Pre-boarding, orientation, compliance, access and a ninety-day ramp — one checklist, two sides, every task with a name and a date on it.

Every programme has a named owner, a real date and a checklist both sides can see.

How a start date actually runs

Four moments, none of them left to memory

Day −14

The offer is signed

The plan builds itself from role, team, location and start date. Nobody opens a blank template.

Day −1

Pre-boarding runs

Kit shipped, accounts created, paperwork signed — all finished before the first morning.

Day 1

The first day happens

A real agenda, working logins, a named buddy, and someone who checks in at four o’clock.

Day 90

The ramp is tracked

Milestones at 30, 60 and 90 with early flags, ending in a review that writes itself.

What good looks like

Four things a first ninety days needs

Office, hybrid or fully remote — every starter gets the same named owners and the same dates written down in advance.

A signed offer triggers the account requests. Provisioning, group membership and the leaver checklist all read from one record, so nobody is copying names between six admin consoles.

Principle 01

A first day is not an induction. It is the first day of the job.

Everything here follows from that. No welcome folder nobody opens, no week of slideshows before anyone is allowed to do real work — just the access, the context and the person to ask, ready on the morning it matters.

Questions

The things People teams ask first

How long does it take to get our first plan live?

Pre-boarding for a single starter can be live the same week. A full ninety-day programme across every job family usually takes about ten working days, most of which is you deciding what your own process should be.

Do we have to replace our HRIS or ATS?

No. DayOne sits between them. The signed offer comes in from your ATS, the person record goes out to your HRIS, and we own the bit in the middle that neither system handles well.

What happens if a manager ignores their tasks?

They get a nudge before the task is late, then their own manager sees it on a weekly digest. Nothing is silently marked done, and a starter never finds out on day one that nobody prepared.

Does this work for fully remote starters?

It was built for them first. Kit ships to a home address with tracking, sessions are booked in the starter’s time zone, and every module has a self-paced version so nobody is stuck waiting for a room.

Can we export compliance evidence for an audit?

Yes — timestamped completions with module versions and acknowledgements, exportable per person, per module or across a date range.
